Insulation for Power Plants
No matter the type of power plant – coal, natural gas, nuclear – Johns Manville Industrial offers the breadth of insulation solutions that are necessary to meet the wide variety application needs that are unique to power plants.
We offer durable, high-temperature insulations, like calcium silicate, that couple high-temperature insulation with resilient compressive-strength and the best corrosion inhibiting performance in the industry. Our product line also includes hydrophobic blankets, mineral wool pipe and block insulations, and a non-combustible fire-protection line. Our insulations help create the safest environments possible while improving process control, addressing CUI, and reducing energy loss and greenhouse gas emissions.

MinWool-1200 Pipe
Water-repellent MinWool-1200® Pipe Insulation is made from inorganic fibers derived from basalt (a volcanic rock) and bound with a thermosetting resin. The water-repellency is tested to BS EN 13472, and advanced manufacturing technology ensures consistent product quality, with high fiber-density and low shot-content, for excellent performance in high-temperature thermal control and fire-resistance applications.
MinWool-1200 Pipe and Tank Wrap
Water-repellent, continuous MinWool-1200® Pipe and Tank Wrap Insulation is made from basalt, a volcanic rock, and bound with a thermosetting resin. Advanced manufacturing technology ensures that our mineral wool products have consistent product quality, with high fiber-density and low shot-content, for excellent performance in thermal control, acoustical and fire-resistant applications.
MinWool-1200 Precision Cut Pipe Insulation
Water-repellent MinWool-1200® Precision Cut pipe insulation is a factory "v-grooved" mineral wool board manufactured to specific pipe or vessel sizes with a variety of facing options. It ships in flat 4-mil plastic and is easily formed on the job site. All mineral wool insulation is made from basalt, a volcanic rock, and bound with a thermosetting resin. Advanced manufacturing technology ensures that our mineral wool products have consistent product quality, with high fiber-density and low shot-content, for excellent performance in thermal control and fire resistance applications. MinWool-1200 PC is manufactured to specific pipe sizes with a variety of facing options.
MinWool-1200 Preformed Pipe Insulation
Water-repellent MinWool-1200® Preformed pipe is a factory "v-grooved" mineral wool board formed to specific pipe sizes and provided in half-cylinder sections with a variety of facing options.
Sproule WR-1200
Sproule WR-1200® is a pre-formed, high-temperature, non-wicking pipe and block insulation. It is composed of expanded perlite that is uniformly reinforced with a high-strength fiber for use on systems operating up to 1200°F (649°C). Sproule WR-1200 is inorganic, non-combustible and meets or exceeds the physical property requirements of ASTM C610. It is produced with XOX Corrosion Inhibitor®, a distinctive formula that inhibits corrosion to outside surfaces of pipe and equipment, especially stress corrosion cracking of austenitic stainless steel.
Thermo-1200 (WATER RESISTANT)
Thermo-1200® is a high temperature, water resistant* Type I calcium silicate designed to inhibit water absorption. In the event of a typical rainstorm water will bead on the surface of the insulation without penetrating into the substrate. This will allow contractors some additional time to install the insulation without immediately applying the jacketing afterward, offering more time and flexibility in the installation process than has traditionally been available. Additionally, Thermo-1200 contains XOX Corrosion Inhibitor®, a proprietary corrosion inhibiting formula that helps inhibit corrosion under insulation (CUI).
Thermo-1200 is available in pipe, block, and curved segments. It is inorganic, non-combustible, asbestos-free, and it meets or exceeds the physical and thermal property requirements of ASTM C533, Type 1. It can be used in systems with operating temperatures that range from ambient up to 1200°F (650°C).
