Johns Manville to Introduce New Products at JEC World 2016

Johns Manville (JM), a market-leading manufacturer of Continuous Filament Glass Fiber and a Berkshire Hathaway company, announced today the introduction of three new rovings: MultiStar® 566 for panel and fabrics reinforcements; StarRov® 090 for reinforcement of composites profiles; and StarRov® 089 for reinforcements of styrene-free resins.

These new offerings will serve the building and construction, sporting goods and wind energy markets. The products will be introduced March 8-10 at the JEC World Composites Show in Paris.

“JM innovates and develops new products based on customer feedback and partnerships,” said Brian Sapp, Global Fibers Business Director for JM Engineered Products. “These new products capitalize on JM’s professional expertise in technical service, innovation and commercialization and build on 50 years of roving manufacturing experience in Europe.”

New product highlights:

  • MultiStar® 566 for thermoset reinforcements delivers improved feeding and chopping with excellent translucency for panel applications and flat homogeneous mat layout for fabric processing with fast resin impregnation.

  • StarRov® 090 for reinforcement of composites profiles is multi-compatible with Epoxy, unsaturated polyester and vinylester resins with good wet-out performances. It is designed for profile and filament winding fabrication.

  • StarRov® 089 for reinforcements of styrene-free resins has demonstrated excellent inter-laminar shear strength (ILSS) and improved modulus performance. Styrene-free resin systems enables manufacturers to become better environmental stewards, meet regulatory standards, and increase lamination productivity to be used in wind energy or demanding composites applications.
