Team JM Joins the Virtual Bike MS Ride to Raise Over $45,000

By Topic

The Bike MS: Colorado ride typically brings Johns Manville employees, customers, suppliers, family members and friends together to help support the nearly 1 million people who live with multiple sclerosis (MS) in the U.S. Over 3,000 cyclists make the the trek from Westminster, Colorado, to Fort Collins, Colorado, and most riders cover more than 150 miles throughout the ride weekend. The group of riders who show their support while representing Johns Manville — known as Team JM — has participated for more than a decade.

For the health and safety of the community, the National MS Society opted to make this year's ride virtual ― meaning riders, including Team JM cyclists, could participate in their own physically distanced rides on June 27.

Cyclists submitted photos showing their Team JM pride across Colorado, California and Pennsylvania. Riders from JM supplier Washington Penn Plastics in Washington, Pennsylvania, enjoyed the support of their own cheering squads, led by family members. Steffen Fiederling, EP Sales Manager, joined the virtual event all the way from Germany. Teammates stayed connected through the Bike MS Cyclists Strava Club and on Facebook Live.

“We really felt the spirit of Bike MS this year,” said Erika Barnum, Bike MS Director. “We are so proud of Team JM’s work this year.”

Despite the absence of an in-person event, Team JM has also raised over $45,000 thus far, which will help fund critical research toward treatments and a cure. Thank you to Team JM for going the #JMextraMile for the Bike MS community amid the pandemic.
