Johns Manville (JM), a market-leading manufacturer of continuous filament glass fiber and a Berkshire Hathaway company, announced today MultiStar® 266 Rovings for Sheet Molding Compounds (SMC) reinforcements where white or light-colored SMC composites is needed.

MultiStar® 266 is used in low-shrink SMC applications based on polyester resin where high quality surface appearance is required with a homogeneous outlook used sanitary, mass transportation (bus and train), building and electrical applications. SMC composites are durable, recyclable and can save 30% to 50% of CO2 emissions during the life-cycle compared to steel.

The product will be on display at JEC World 2019 Composite Show in Paris. The JM booth is at Hall 6 – G32.

“The improved performance of MultiStar® 266 Roving allows SMC compounders to expand the use of composites in new applications where composites parts do not need to be coated and thus reduces CO2 emissions during its life-cycle,“ said Karin Demez, Global Marketing and Portfolio Leader in JM’s Engineered Products – Global Fibers business.
