Johns Manville Showcases New Applications at JEC World 2018

DENVER - Tuesday, March 6, 2018 – Johns Manville (JM), a market-leading manufacturer of continuous filament glass fiber and a Berkshire Hathaway company, will present innovative applications based on thermoplastic organo sheets and typical composites at JEC World 2018 this week in Paris.

Thermoplastic organo sheets offer high strength and allow for significant weight reduction compared to traditional materials. Other thermoset applications will be displayed to demonstrate the benefits and the potential of composites materials in this growing market.

Customers and suppliers can meet Johns Manville representatives at Hall 6, Booth G32.

“JM’s continuous innovation and product expansion globally for structural engineered thermoplastics is the result of great collaboration between our customers and our global product teams,” said Karin Demez, Global Marketing and Portfolio Leader in JM’s Engineered Products – Global Fibers business.

Also at JEC World this week, JM will showcase the winning entry from students at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, in the SMC/BMC 2017 Design Award competition. The award is presented by the SMC/BMC Alliance and sponsored by Johns Manville.

The students designed a modular compost bin and planter called a Kuzo that can be placed at playgrounds. The bin was designed using SMC and BMC technology.

“We believe that Kuzo can help the planet in the most fun way!” according to the students’ entry. “We give kids the opportunity to turn their waste into nutrients for plants that they can grow and flourish into flowers and new fruits and vegetables. Our goal is to teach the next generations how easy recycling and taking care of the planet can be.”
