Emissions & Energy Use
We optimize operations to minimize environmental impact, producing energy-saving solutions like fiberglass insulation that save 100 times the energy required for its manufacture over 20 years. We are transforming our energy mix through cleaner technologies to reduce the energy embodied in our products. These strategic improvements support our 2030 goals to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40% and Scope 3 emissions by 20% against a 2017 baseline.
Waste & Circularity
We minimize our environmental footprint by transitioning toward circular solutions and treating waste as a valuable resource. We reduced our waste intensity by 7.5% over the past five years and recently exceeded our landmark goal of using 2 billion pounds of recycled materials in our processes. To build on this momentum, we have set an ambitious new target to reduce waste intensity by 15% by 2030 while proactively exploring new material streams to ensure our manufacturing aligns with the highest environmental standards.
Water Management
It is imperative that we reduce pressure on local water systems and strengthen resilience against supply risks. We have committed to water reduction projects at all five of our high-scarcity facilities by 2030 to mitigate risks identified by the World Wildlife Fund Water Risk Filter. Our dedication is already yielding results, including a 40% reduction in water consumption at the JM Technical Center in a single year.
