Other Composites

Johns Manville’s polyester spunbond nonwovens are used as reinforcements in a variety of composite applications.  Spunbond polyester nonwovens can be produced in a wide variety of fabric characteristics.  All of JM’s spunbond polyester is interlocked by needlepunching, making the nonwoven extremely tough and providing a stable internal bonding mechanism which prevents delamination.  The web can also be:

- calendered to vary thickness or change surface texture

- thermally or chemically bonded to increase dimensional stability

-produced with a color additive to match the end application (e.g. blue, gray, white)

-a fiber scrim can be sandwhiched inside the fabric for even greater dimensional stability

Spunbond polyester nonwovens offer tremendous potential for effective synergies between your performance requirements and JM’s production capabilities.
