GoBoard® is the durable, ultra-lightweight, waterproof tile backer board from Johns Manville.
FAST INSTALLATON: Complete shower tile projects in half the time or less. Install GoBoard with sealant, take a break and tile the same day. Grout the next day and the project is done*.
ULTRA-LIGHTWEIGHT: Engineered to be dependable even though it’s much lighter weight than cement and other heavy boards. GoBoard can be installed in residential and light commercial tile applications.
EASY TO CUT, HANDLE & INSTALL: GoBoard can be quickly cut right where it’s installed with a basic utility knife without crumbling or disintegrating. It’s also much easier to handle than cement and other heavy boards.
WATERPROOF BUILT-IN: GoBoard saves time and money because you seal only the board joints and fastener locations for a waterproof tile assembly**.
GoBoard® is available in the following thicknesses:
- ¼" for floors and countertops
- ½" and ⅝" for walls, showers, ceilings and floors
- 1", 1½" and 2" for walls, benches, shelves, tub surrounds, vanities and countertops
* A typical shower project, waterproof installation, following manufacturer's installation instructions.
** Board joints and fastener locations require a waterproof sealant per GoBoard installation instructions.
Without waterproofing, water can get behind a tile installation. This applies not only to showers, but also walls, floors and countertops, as water from normal usage in a home or building can find its way onto the tile, through the installation and behind it. This can lead to mold growth and damage to the tile installation and potentially other building elements.
Some backer boards are not inherently waterproof, and a waterproof membrane is required to be installed behind (before board installation) or over (after board installation) the entire board—neither of which are necessary with GoBoard.
With GoBoard, you save time and money because you seal only the board joints and fastener locations as you install the board. Please review the GoBoard installation instructions, below, for details on how to install GoBoard for a waterproof installation.
