Johns Manville Introduces New Fibers for BMC

Johns Manville (JM), a market-leading manufacturer of glass fiber products, today announced the introduction of a new chopped strand glass fiber for BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound). StarStran® 862 chopped strands has been designed to increase mechanical performance in higher glass loading applications using BMC composite processes for electrical and precision molding applications.

JM’s continuous innovation in the SMC-BMC segment reflects its commitment to the thermoset industry. JM is also introducing new customers’ SMC applications that use JM Rovings in innovative electrical charge units for e-car mobility solutions.

MultiStar® 272 roving provides enhanced mechanical and surface quality in non-painted parts where functional integration and durability are important criteria to deliver superior sustainability performance in CO2 emissions versus painted traditional materials, such as steel or aluminum.
