DENVER, CO – July 13, 2012 – Johns Manville (JM), a leading global manufacturer of energy-efficient building products and engineered specialty materials, today announced that the company has made a $25,000 donation to the American Red Cross. The donation was prompted by the devastating fire season that Colorado is experiencing this year. Of the $25,000 donated, $10,000 will go to wildfire relief efforts in Colorado. The remaining $15,000 is designated for American Red Cross Disaster Relief, which funds relief efforts for wildfires and other disasters throughout the region.
"Colorado has been especially hard-hit this year with at least eight major fires taking place over the last several weeks," said Todd Raba, JM chairman, president and CEO. "In addition to being a beautiful state, Colorado is home to Johns Manville’s world headquarters. We’re pleased to support the American Red Cross in their continuing efforts to help families recovering from the destruction of the recent wildfires."
"Regardless of where they happen, disasters are tremendously damaging to communities, so a portion of our donation is going to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund," continued Raba. "Our hope is that these funds can help families in other parts of the region as their needs arise."
Jeff Riley, chief development officer for the American Red Cross Mile High Region, said the organization is grateful for the support of companies like JM.
"Donations from the business community are critical to our recovery efforts," said Riley. "These funds help provide assistance and emotional support to victims of thousands of disasters each year, and we’re always thankful when companies step up and get involved."
