Johns Manville Corporation (NYSE:JM) today announced that Michael P. Kane, 49, has been appointed senior vice president for the Insulation Group, effective March 1, 2001. Kane will report directly to Jerry Henry, Johns Manville chairman, president and CEO.
"We are extremely pleased to have someone of Mike's caliber on board here at JM," said Henry. "His background and experience makes him the ideal choice to manage one of our key businesses."
Kane comes to Johns Manville from Hanson, PLC, a global building materials supplier of concrete, aggregates and cement. Kane held the position of president, Hanson Aggregates Central, a successor role to his prior position as president and CEO of Pioneer USA, Inc., which had been acquired by Hanson in May 2000.
Prior to joining Pioneer USA, Inc. in March 1998, Kane spent 25 years with USG Corporation. During that time he held increasingly responsible management positions, including his last assignments as president, USG Europe; executive vice president, USG International, Ltd.; and vice president, Asia Pacific. Kane has held a variety of line and staff assignments in operations, and in legal and regulatory affairs including product safety, occupational safety and environmental.
Kane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Illinois University and a Juris Doctor degree from the School of Law at DePaul University in Chicago.
