Denver, Colorado (3/6/2007) --- Johns Manville introduced Invinsa Roof Board, a resilient, lightweight roof board designed as a component of the roof system. It provides a protective layer for the insulation, while adding stability to the membrane above to ensure maximum performance and longevity.
Its patent-pending high density polyisocyanurate technology is bonded in-line to mineral-surfaced fiber glass reinforced facers, providing excellent resistance to fire, water and hail. It enhances the performance of PVC, TPO and EPDM single ply systems as well as JMCleanBond® SBS modified bitumen roof systems.
“We’ve taken 20 years of history and experience in polyisocyanurate manufacturing and engineered a product based on that technology to meet the needs of single ply and self-adhered roofing systems,” said Chris Griffin, director of innovation and commercialization for Johns Manville. “Invinsa performs double duty in every application, protecting both the thermal investment and the waterproofing membrane to deliver long-term roof system performance.”
Invinsa Roof Board optimizes roof system performance in new, re-cover and re-roof applications. It can be installed over an existing roof to increase the integrity of the new roof.
“In a re-roofing application, Invinsa’s light weight can actually mean the difference between a costly tear-off and replacement of the insulation versus a re-cover over existing materials, often resulting in significant savings,” said Lisa Buenzli, director of marketing.
The characteristics of this innovative product provide a number of advantages:
- Invinsa is user-friendly, allowing easy and efficient scoring, cutting and snapping, which permits fast, tight fabrication around roof penetrations;
- Invinsa’s composition creates a low dust environment and smooth clean substrate for membrane adhesion;
- Because it is flexible, there is less breakage during installation;
- Invinsa accommodates dips and other minor irregularities in existing roofs;
- Its light weight provides labor and installation efficiencies and may result in fewer fatigue-related mistakes and injuries;
- Its low water-absorption characteristics and inorganic composition offer exceptional performance in diverse environments, and it will not foster mold growth; and,
- Invinsa’s resiliency helps to protect the roof system from damage by hail, foot traffic, construction loads and normal roof maintenance;
Invinsa Roof Board has been tested according to the requirements of ASTM C 209, C 473, C 518, D 1289, D 1037, D 1621, D 2126, D 3273 and E96. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. ® has classified it as an approved cover board for certain Class “A” roof constructions. It can be used in numerous FM Global 1A-90 or above roof constructions.
