Johns Manville Introduces Program to Bring Added Value to Building Owners and Increased Revenue to Roofing Contractors

New Orleans, Louisiana (2/12/2003) --- The Johns Manville Roofing Systems Group (RSG) unveiled its new Inspection, Maintenance and Repair Program™ (IMR) today. This unique program provides an enhanced level of service to building owners, and a vehicle for Peak Performance roofing contractors to develop long-term relationships with their customers.

“Our role is to provide value-added services to building owners that can be delivered by qualified roofing contractors,” said Craig Maginness, director, Contractor Services Program. “Building owners will have the peace of mind knowing that a major commercial and industrial roofing manufacturer in the U.S. is managing their roofing assets at a pre-determined price. At the same time, we will provide the means for our top contractors to establish long-term repeat business and an ongoing relationship with building owners.

About IMR
IMR is a patent-pending program that assures a thorough ongoing roof assessment, combined with preventive and corrective procedures, to maximize the performance and life of an existing roofing system. IMR offers select building owners a number of benefits:

  • A single point of responsibility for any roofing system;
  • Enhanced performance throughout the life of the roofing system;
  • Extended life of the roofing system without replacement;
  • Guarantee-backed service and roof performance;
  • Budget forecasting;
  • Committed, fiscal-year pricing for all repair work; and,
  • The security of knowing that a major commercial and industrial roofing materials manufacturer is responsible for the continuing performance of the roofing system.

Roofing contractors who have been trained and certified by RSG will perform all work. The IMR-certified roofing contractor will complete a roof assessment and prepare an initial report for building owners. The report establishes a firm IMR price list and provides a preliminary cost estimate and work order for the current year. It also provides up to a 10-year, roof-cost forecast. The IMR team then meets with the client to review the completed IMR System Roof Asset Manual. Next, they then establish a current year roof maintenance and repair budget, and agree on the scope and cost of an ongoing program. All repair, maintenance and replacement work will then be performed for the agreed-upon monthly or annual payments with all documentation prepared according to the client’s requirements.

IMR allows building owners or consultants to address their roofing needs in a timely fashion with a single point of financial responsibility. Moreover, it allows RSG and its contractor partners to turn a one-time sale into a continuing relationship with building owners. Finally, it allows RSG and its contractor to increase profit margins by expanding opportunities for negotiated pricing.
