Are you having trouble getting accurate results or do you want to improve your search queries? Try using some of these tips.
Search automatically includes a wildcard (*) on either side of your search string or word. If you want to browse all of our MSDS's simply press the search button or enter *.
Effective search strategies
To make your search more effective, do the following:
- Be specific.
Try using words that are unique or try adding descriptive words. For example, a search for "insulation" probably gives you too many results. Specify "insulation batts" or "basement insulation" if that is what you're really looking for.
Tip: If you know the four-digit MSDS Number, try typing that. Note that the results may not appear correct as an MSDS Number can be referenced in multiple documents.
Example: "3102"
- Check your spelling.
A single misspelled or mistyped word can change your results -- especially when searching by JM Trade Names.
Example: "micro-lock" will return no results as the correct trade name is "micro-lok". If you are unsure of the exact spelling, try using a known character string such as "micro-".
- Learn from your results.
Your search may not return exactly what you're looking for, but scanning the results may help you see the words that were found and give you ideas for other searches.
Search is not case sensitive, so don't worry about capitalization.
Narrow your results using Advanced Search
The main Search box searches all text within JM's MSDS library. Advanced Search provides a few specific properties to narrow your search. They can be used individually or in combination with each other and the main Search box.
- Country –
Select a country to search for an MSDS specific to products sold in that country. This selection does not specify language.
Example: Type your search term in the first box (insulation), then select Canada from the Country dropdown to view all datasheets for Canada product.*
- Material/Product Name –
Type one or two words. The word(s) must be part of the Product Name property and general terms are usually better.
Examples: "building insulation", "filtration", "membrane adhesive"
If you get no results, try using just one word.
Example: "wall insulation" may be too specific and "insulation" may be too broad. You can probably refine your search by scanning the results.
- JM Trade Name –
Type one or two words. The word(s) must be part of the Trade Name property. This may be a trademarked product name or a general term.
Examples: "Microlite", "Corbond", "kraft-faced", "filtration", "pvc roofing"
- Business Unit –
Select one of JM's major business units.
Example: If you are searching for only roof insulation, enter "insulation" as your keyword, then select Roofing Systems from the Business Unit dropdown box.
