Q:  Do I need to replace my building insulation if it gets wet?

A:  Yes. In cases where the insulation has become saturated and the insulation is not allowed to fully dry, the insulating properties of the fiber glass will be impaired. Wet walls or ceilings raise the possibility of peeling paint and warped wallboard. Odors or microbial growth could form from mud or contaminants carried by the water into the insulation or other components. The severity of these problems can only be evaluated by inspecting the structures on a case by case basis.
