Q:  What does the Model Energy Code require for duct insulation?

A:  The Model Energy Code was written by CABO with participation by BOCA, ICBO, SBCCI, NCSBCS. The following are the major requirements from the 1995 Model Energy Code:

R-values listed are for the insulation as installed and do not include film resistance.

TD = temperature difference at design conditions between air in the duct interior and the surrounding space.
