Adobe® Air® Troubleshooting

Windows Vista or XP Adobe Air & Auto Updater Fix

Issue: Corrupted or out of date AIR file (Uploader won't open, or doesn't show in your system tray but you can still see it running in your "processes" tab in task manager).

  1. Open Task Manager (right click on your computer's Taskbar at the bottom of your computer screen, and click on Task Manager).
  2. Click on Processes tab.
    1. If you see Multiply's Auto Uploader showing in processes, click on it and then "End Process."
    2. If you see more than one, end each of them.
  3. Close Task Manager window.
  4. Navigate to Control Panel (Add/Remove).
  5. Uninstall the Auto Uploader.
  6. Uninstall Adobe Air.
  7. Navigate to Program files.
  8. Delete the Multiply Auto Uploader folder (if it is left behind, which it may not be).
  9. Close window.
  10. Open My computer, C Drive.
  11. In "Windows" explorer window, go to the menu bar at the top, TOOLS, Options, Folder Options.
  12. Click on the "view" tab.
  13. Check the "show hidden files and folders” box. (You can hide them back when you are done).
    1. If you are using Vista and you do not see the menu bar, which does not show by default, go to Organize, Layout and click to show "menu bar" and then proceed to tools, folder options, VIEW TAB to unhide hidden files and folders.
  14. You should then see the hidden (slightly grayed out) Program Data and/or Application Data folder in the C Drive (If this is your computer's main hard drive letter).
  15. Open this folder.
  16. If you have an Adobe folder, open it.
  17. Inside you should see the AIR FOLDER (this isn’t removed when you uninstall, and can include the corrupted file).
  18. Delete this folder, which will remove all files in that folder.
  19. Now you are ready for a fresh reinstall of both Adobe Air and Multiply's Auto Uploader (in that order).
  20. Download the latest version of each below, installing Adobe Air first, and then Multiply's Auto Uploader.
    1. http://get.adobe.com/air/
    2. http://multiply.com/autouploader
    3. REMEMBER: During the install process of the Auto Uploader, you will see a window that shows the default folders that the Auto Uploader monitors. Remove those before you proceed. You can then go back and add the folders you wish to have monitored by right clicking on the Uploader which should show in your system tray (or after you reboot it should show up).
  21. Reboot.
  22. You should now see it in your system tray after restarting with access via right click.
